Reflections on 2016: Life, Death, Netflix and Hope - PaganSquare - PaganSquare - Join the conversation!

I confess that although I did not write a great deal in this blog in 2016, there were certainly plenty of things going on in my life and in my world. It would be an easy way out to say that the events of this year simply rendered me speechless, and I doubt that there would be many who would argue with me on that. Personally, I hit many milestones and manifested a number of things I had been hoping to achieve. However, the harbingers of doom and despair came in the form of the deaths of many artists who influenced my life, and the lives of many others.

Upcoming Events | Yule: Rekindling our Inner Fires | Tenders of the Earth Temple

One spirit in the dark,
Like a candle waivers.
Many spirits joined as one,
Burn with the power of the blazing sun.
There is strength in community,
A circle empowering you and me.
The circle binds yet sets us free,
In the Goddess’ name, so mote it be.

Going Viral on Samhain #WhatWitchesLookLike | The Wild Hunt

TWH — As the sun rose on Oct. 31 and the Halloween frenzy crested, a viral social media campaign appeared, generating hundreds of responses on Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr ,and Twitter. Using hashtag #whatwitcheslooklike, people from around the world posted photographs of themselves wearing no religious ritual wear, costumes, or other atypical clothing for their personal lifestyle. The goal was to combat popular fictional witch stereotypes by demonstrating what real, modern Witches actually look like.

We stand in the circle and each person invites a spirit to come through the gate and join us in our Samhain rite. A bell is rung after and a candle is lit after each invitation.

We raise energy through chant. We sit quietly and wait for messages from the ancestors. Tarot cards, runes and a scrying bowl have been placed on the alter for anyone who wishes to use them. At the appropriate time, anyone who wishes to speak will be permitted to do so.
